Who can join?
The RWF is open to any woman who makes the commitment to support the organization by contributing $2,100 a year. This fee is payable in two parts:
- $2,000 to Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia. This organization is the RWF’s fiscal agent for community donations.
- $100 to The Roanoke Women’s Foundation for administrative fees and two annual grantee recognition events.

We support organizations in Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Salem, Vinton, Botetourt County, Craig County, Floyd County, and Franklin County, Virginia.
We fund both capital and operating needs for nonprofit organizations in:
- Arts and Culture
- Education
- Environment
- Health and Human Services
How are funding decisions made?
We look for critical needs, new ventures and innovative approaches to solving problems. The RWF grants committee evaluates proposals and selects projects for an organization-wide ballot.
Voting takes place annually in autumn. Funding awarded by RWF is proportional to the size of the membership. The projects selected reflect the diverse interests of the membership.
Can I vote on this year’s grants?
You can join at any time. If membership is paid by September 1, you are eligible to vote. Those who choose to join after this deadline are still considered full members, are welcome to attend the Awards Luncheon in the latter part of the year, and can participate in other events and committees as they wish.
How do I pay?
The membership fee is $2,000 to a fund only used for grants and $100 for RWF’s annual operating expenses.
