Roanoke, Va. (November 1, 2018) – Celebrating its fourteenth year, The Roanoke Women’s Foundation (RWF) has announced the recipients of its grant awards, the largest amount given to date. A total of $369,500 was awarded at a luncheon held at Roanoke Country Club on November 1, 2018, bringing to $3,436,500 the total in funds granted since the RWF’s inception.
In congratulating the grant winners, Jan Garrett, The Roanoke Women’s Foundation Board President, said, “The Roanoke Valley is fortunate to have organizations of such high caliber striving every day to improve the quality of life for our citizens. The 186 members of The Roanoke Women’s Foundation are honored to work with these dedicated community partners.”
The Roanoke Women’s Foundation was established as a way for women in the Roanoke Valley and surrounding communities to share their philanthropic goals and pool their resources in order to make significant gifts to the community.
This year, 56 organizations applied for funding from the RWF. Through a thorough vetting process, that number was narrowed to a group that was presented to the membership for their vote. Based on those results, these grants were awarded in the 2018 grant cycle.
